Dear Bert and Jeff,
First, I want to send a personal thank you to both of
you for the extra attention and effort you contributed
to making it possible for Skipper and I to have this
most memorable holiday experience at your resort.
I was most interested in the eco-lodge type setting
versus the large impersonal resort hotel situation.
Your lodge and bungalows by the beach were the perfect
blend of pampering for the westernized tourist and
the taste of a natural jungle/river village.
In fact, on our first day we were most pleasantly
surprised as we walked down the beach to inspect the
brightly colored umbrellas that there were many fun
stops along the way to offer refreshments and
entertaining daily activity. We were even more
surprised to find that the back side of the
establishments opened up to a whole other world of fun
where they served the many locals and visitors enjoying
the cool waters of the river.
How beautiful and magical it was to see -- the river
meeting the ocean -- .
On the walk back that afternoon along the smooth river
rocks and sandy paths, we were drawn by lovely music and
laughter to a quaint little restaurant/bar where we
stopped for a nice evening of cold cold beer and great
service with the aromas of adventurous dishes cooking in
the kitchen. We watched as the lazy afternoon turned
to a fun night crowd of dancing and smiling people.
Amazing day !!
The best part was that we only had to walk a short
distance and found the walkway bridge crossing that
brought us back home to your lodge and our peaceful
bungalow.
Warm showers and a cozy bed beckoned with a tropical
breeze whispering to us the secrets of this beautiful
river/ocean place.
Thank you, Bert, for your excellent touring guide self
and the many many special sites you shared with us in
Salvador and the wonderful shopping village as well as
the sea turtle sanctuary. We never would have seen
and known Brazil in this way if it had not been for your
generosity of spirit and time.
With Love,
Laura and Skipper McLelland

Dear Berton,
I just wanted to drop you a brief note to tell you just how much my husband and
I enjoyed our stay at Club Imbassai.
The truth is that we were somewhat unsure as to whether or not we would be able
to enjoy ourselves at a smallish resort such as yours being used to much larger more traditional hotels.
Boy, how wrong we were. I have nothing but warm nostalgic feelings and praise for
your little gem by the ocean.
We will and have recommended your place to our more adventurous friends.
Regards to your staff and the Chef
Best of luck,
