At
our oceanfront restaurant and bar "The Mermaid's Shell"
we serve fine
international cuisine and Brazilian sea-food delicacies. The
"Shell" is the local haven for great
entertainment and traditional Bahian specialties such as:
-
Mosqueca
de Camarao - a delicious hearty stew made with freshly
caught rosy shrimp caringly prepared with coconut milk and
dende or palm oil and infused with regional vegetables.
-
Peixe
Inteiro Velmelho - a good sized, whole, sautéed or
oven basted red bass served with various accoutrements.
-
Salada
da Polvo a Vinagrete - a tantalizingly tasty
braised fresh octopus prepared with a savory vinegar based
salad dressing.
-
We
also feature Prime Grade-A Steaks and other meat
based dishes, as well as international specialties such as
Chicken Breast Milanese. Just request and
we'll do our best.

During the day, should you prefer, you may lounge with our
sumptuous tropical cocktail creations beachside while tanning.
Or you can join in a beach volleyball or soccer game, or
you can fish, surf, wind-surf, visit sea-turtle preserves,
wade in river, ocean and waterfall, wander aimlessly through
ecological wonderland, tour the great markets and Portuguese
colonial sights of Salvador (one-hour's drive), or just
do nothing except lay-back and enjoy our first-class amenities
in a cultural setting that is uniquely Brazilian -- its songs,
dance and arts will come alive at CLUB IMBASSAÍ.
In
the evening, on the beach, under the sparkling moonlight you
can savor our various mouth-watering appetizers such as mussel
chowder and 'alpin fritas', all the while
gazing upward at the most spectacular vision of the Milky Way
imaginable. The
following morning you will thoroughly enjoy our fabulous
breakfast (Cafe de Manha) which includes wonderful Bahian and
Amazonian fruits and juices. Our chef makes a tapioca pudding
like concoction that you can't get enough of, freshly baked
pies and cakes, grilled plantain and cinnamon delicacies,
breakfast meats, cereals, delicious omelets etc. And don't
even request coffee - it grows on you in Brazil.
Reservations may be made through our US office, by your
local travel agent or by calling (866) 299-1779. Attn. Jeff Klein.
